‘SimpleRockets 2’ is Finally Heading to Mobile Next Month, Up for Pre-Order Now

Developer Jundroo has made a career out of releasing quirky physics-based games on mobile, going all the way back to BridgeBasher in 2009. That paved the way for their SimplePhysics in 2011, which achieved moderate popularity, and led to a follow-up in 2013 called SimpleRockets which became a massive breakout success. They followed that up with SimplePlanes in 2014, but that one never reached the same heights as SimpleRockets did. In the fall of 2017 Jundroo announced a proper sequel to SimpleRockets called SimpleRockets 2 which would expand on the original in a number of ways and would include fully 3D visuals. They had hoped to release SimpleRockets 2 in early 2018, but it wasn’t until November that year that the game launched on Steam in Early Access to critical acclaim. Now nearly a year after that and the mobile version of SimpleRockets 2 is finally on the horizon. Here is a brief mobile teaser followed by the much meatier launch trailer for the desktop version.

As the teaser amusingly points out, the launch date of the mobile version of SimpleRockets 2 is “probably September" and as one of our readers pointed out to us today the game is actually available for pre-order as of a few weeks ago and has an expected release date of September 19th. Due to the use of full 3D visuals and all of the complex physics calculations going on at any given time, SimpleRockets 2 on mobile will only support iOS devices with 2GB of RAM. That includes the iPhone 6S and up including the iPhone SE, the iPad mini 4 and 5, iPad Air 2 and 3, the iPad Pro, and the 7th generation iPod touch released this year. The mobile version of SimpleRockets 2 will set you back just $4.99 and I’m very much looking forward to taking it for a test flight when it arrives next month.
